The FPN - Federação Portuguesa de Naturismo or Portuguese Naturist Federation - was founded in March 1977. It was admitted to the INF - the International Naturist Federation - in October of the same year and attended its first INF World Congress in 1978.
FPN immediately started to established contacts at the highest level, focusing on the development of naturism as a legal practice in Portugal, and in 1988, after a decade of campaigning, managed to see the first Naturist Law in Portugal approved by the country’s parliament.
Today, the FPN acts as the coordinating body of naturist activity in Portugal, federating several clubs and associations, organising activities, and promoting naturism as a healthy and integrated lifestyle.
It has been instrumental in gaining recognition for nine official naturist beaches in Portugal, together with the acceptance of naturism on many other beaches throughout the country. It has also been responsible for organising the first naturist activities in council swimming pools and health clubs, and gives support in the development of naturist-related tourist accommodation infrastructure.
FPN has a website (in Portuguese) and a Facebook page.
FPN and/or INF members are offered a range of discounts at various providers of naturist accommodation in Portugal including Monte Naturista O Barão, Quinta do Maral, Samonatura, Pool Houses and Vale de Milhanos.
